Some places may impress you, but only a few leave you speechless. The Taj Mahal is one such rare place. The great Indian writer Rabindranath Tagore once said:

The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time[1].

The first time you come here, you immediately know just what he means.

As soon as you pass through the red sandstone gate, there it is. You see white marble shining brightly in the morning light, and visitors chattering about the history of the Taj Mahal.

As you move closer to the four pillars of the Taj Mahal, you see each one standing tall and with the dome crowning them above, and the four towers visible from every direction making the monument feel truly alive.

A Love Story That is Written on the White Marble

The world’s greatest lover, Shah Jahan, built this beautiful monument in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, after her death. Today, the world calls it a symbol of love.

It took 22 long years and the hands of 20,000 skilled craftsmen to bring this dream to life so that the love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal would be remembered forever.

Many people dream of proposing to their soul mates here. The Taj Mahal is one of the grandest testaments to devotion and love making it the perfect place to ask, ‘Will you marry me?’.

When you hear about it, it may seem like a lover-made building in memory of his wife. But actually, when you see it, it feels like a poem written on white marble.

Fun Fact: People who visit the Taj Mahal actually hear its full story from guides and random conversations around the place, rather than from history books. Funny, right?

Have you ever seen a building change colors right before your eyes? This is the magic of the Taj Mahal. It’s something you have to see to believe.

The Taj Mahal may seem white in photos, but in reality, the face of this building transforms throughout the day. When the sun rises in the morning, it turns soft pink. By lunchtime, it appears white and shiny. When the sun goes down, it sparkles golden and glows silver under a full moon.

Behind its beauty lies the incredible craftsmanship. Every detail reflects a level of skill and care that's rare to find today. Built to honor love, the intention that went into creating this remarkable monument also makes it stand as a true wonder of the world.
